Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Patients frequently tell us they begin feeling better as soon as they enter Four Winds Acupuncture.
The most misconceive notion is that Traditional Chinese Medicine is only achieved with Acupuncture. We can tailor you treatment plan according to your individual needs using all the different modalities within TCM.
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system incorporating common medical or health concepts that has been developed in China for more than 3,000 years.
It is a complete medical system, which has a coherent understanding of the human body, its function and dysfunctions. It has been created from the observation of nature and the experience of many generations of doctors and scholars.
Traditional Chinese Medicine embodies a fundamental theory that explains how a human body works in relation with the anatomy, physiology, and psychology or mind, body, spirit. It has a highly developed diagnostic system that is based on the fundamental principle that signs and symptoms reflect the condition of the internal organs.
The four traditional principles of TCM diagnosis includes:
1) Observation: Hair, Skin, Nails, Ear and Tongue
2) Listening / Smelling: Voice, Breathing, Heart, Digestion, Odors
3) Questioning: Current and past health history, Signs and symptoms
4) Palpation: Skin, Muscles, Temperature, Feeling or palpating the area of discomfort, Acupuncture points and especially the Pulse

Dr Jean Caron will beging by doing a Complete Health Evaluation that will encompass everything from energy levels, your pulse, skin color, tongue, nails, hair, scalp. He then formulates a diagnosis, and Pattern Discrimination -findings- that cause the disease.
TCM aims to treat this imbalances that contribute the disease, rather than the symptoms. Because the root causes of disease are different, each patient is treated as an individual, with treatment specially customized to their situation.
“Oriental medicine, which includes the practice of acupuncture, Chinese herbology and Asian bodywork therapy, is a comprehensive health care system encompassing a variety of traditional health care therapies that have been used for more than 3,000 years to diagnose and treat illness, prevent disease and improve well-being.”
While western medicine treats the symptoms, TCM treats the patterns that causes the disease.
